Wildcats Win Third Straight

ELMIRA, N.Y. – Penn College won its third straight baseball game with a 5-3 win over Elmira College in a non-conference game Tuesday. The Wildcats improved to 4-8, while the Eagles dropped to 0-12.

Elmira took an early lead in the bottom of the first when Joe Kidd smacked a two-run single to centerfield to put the Eagles ahead 2-0. The Wildcats cut their deficit in half in the next inning when Noah Esposito was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

After Elmira added another run in the fourth, Evan Vigna made it 3-2 with a RBI double in the fifth inning. Zach Weil put the Wildcats ahead for good when he belted a three run homer in the seventh. It was Weil's third home run of the season.

Carlos Rodriguez and James Simasek each had three hits for Penn College. Kyle Fox picked up his first win after relieving Clay DeNoia (4 innings, 4 Ks, 3 ER) in the fifth. Fox fired four scoreless innings with three strikeouts. Zach Junk earned his second save this season for Penn College.

The Wildcats return to the diamond Wednesday, 4 p.m., at King's College.
