SCRANTON, Pa. – Penn College surrendered nine of 10 runs in two frames in a 10-8 setback to the University of Scranton in a non-conference baseball game Thursday. The Wildcats snapped a three game winning streak and fell to 4-9, while the Royals improved to 10-11.
Scranton took an early 4-0 in the first inning before the Wildcats match it in the next frame.
Noah Esposito drove in a run with a single to center,
Deric Ellerman's grounder to second plated another run and
Carlos Rodriguez belted a two run single to center to even the game.
The Royals added a run in the second and
Jeremy Rall evened the game at 5-5 with a RBI single in the third.
After a five run fourth for Scranton, Penn College added two in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Dylan Scaringi and Rodriguez plated runs in the fifth and
James Simasek drove in the final run in the sixth.
Esposito and Simasek finished with three hits each for the Wildcats and Rodriguez and Rall each had two hits. John Kranick picked up the win for Scranton in one inning of work and
Matt Demilio was saddled with the loss after going two innings.
Penn College returns to action Saturday, 1 p.m., in a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader at Penn State Berks.
