Randy Vance began his collegiate soccer career in style with three goals to help lead the Wildcats to a 6-0 win over Central Penn in non-conference men's soccer match Tuesday. Penn College improved to 1-0, giving rookie head coach
Tyler Mensch his first career win, while the Knights dropped to 0-1.
Vance tallied his first goal in the 12
th minute when
Ian Scheller sent him a cross in front of the net. He scored again in the 38
th minute when he headed a rebound ball to the left side of net and put the Wildcats ahead 2-0 at halftime.
Daniel Hibbs scored on a penalty kick in the 63
rd minute for Penn College before
Gerry Lua hooked up with
Mason Merrill to give the Wildcats at 4-0 lead in the 73
rd. Lua found Vance for his third goal eight minutes later, before Lua netted a shot of his own when tapped in a shot to the bottom right corner.
Penn College outshot the Knights 29-5 and held a 9-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Hunter Gosnell stopped shot in goal for the Wildcats to notch his first win this season, while Hesse Berger recorded nine saves in goal for Central Penn.
Penn College returns to the pitch Thursday hosting Summitt University at 7 p.m.
