WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –
Luke McFalls recorded a hat trick and
Tarik Laroche netted a pair and dished out two helpers, to lead Penn College to a 5-2 win over Summitt University in non-conference men's soccer game Thursday. The Wildcats improved to 2-0, while the Defenders fell to 0-2.
Ian Scheller and
Devin Sherman both had an assist for Penn College, while Ian Self and Wesley Pincince each scored a goal for SU.
Malcolm Kane stopped nine shots in goal for the Wildcats and improved to 1-0.
Laroche put the Wildcats on the board first in the sixth minute after splitting a pair of defenders and sending the ball off the tip of the goalies mitts. Penn College made it 2-0 after Scheller's cross found the footof McFalls in the 17
th minute. Laroche struck again in 19
th minute when Sherman's deflection found Laroche to give the Wildcats a 3-0 lead. Laroche later connected with McFalls in the 34
th minute to put Penn College ahead 4-0 at the break.
Summitt University put its first goal on the board in the 66
th minute when James Filko sent a pass to Self. The Defenders missed opportunities for more points in the 72
nd minute when they fired three consecutive shots at Kane, who stoned all three shots.
Laroche and McFalls hooked up again in the 77
th minute to make it 5-1 before Pincince scored in the 82
nd minute of SU.
Summitt edged Penn College in shots, 16-14, while the Wildcats held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.
Penn College returns to action Saturday, 7:30 p.m., at Alfred State.
