WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College picked up its first conference win with a 3-1 victory over Gallaudet in North Eastern Athletic Conference men's soccer match Friday. The Wildcats improved 1-1 NEAC, 3-5 overall, while the Bison fell to 0-1, 0-2-1.
Penn College struck first in the 17
th minute when
Austin Dowrick's re-cross header found the head of
Christopher Rutledge, who knocked it into the left side of the goal on a diving header.
Gerry Lua made it 2-0 in the 25
th minute with an unassisted score from the right sideline, before Brian Espanto converted a penalty kick in the 39
th minute for Gallaudet. The Wildcats netted their third goal in the 42
nd minute when
Randy Vance found
Mason Merrill to make it 3-1.
The second half was more even with the Wildcats holding a 4-2 edge on shots.
Penn College finished with a 13-5 edge on shots and 6-4 on corner kicks.
Malcolm Kane finished one save for Penn College.
The Wildcats return to action Sunday, 11 a.m., hosting Wilson.
