WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College won its second straight game with a 2-0 win over Wilson in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's soccer match Sunday. The Wildcats improved to 4-5 overall, 2-1 NEAC, while the Phoenix fell to 0-3, 0-1.
Penn College missed a handful of opportunities in the first half when
Christopher Rutledge fired three shots at the net in a 13-minute span, all three were stopped by Wilson keeper Michael Martin. Wilson finished with four shots in the first, with just one on goal.
The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead early in the second half when the ball was kicked backwards by a Wilson defender on errant clear attempt in the 55
th minute. Penn College struck again in the 60
th minute when
Devin Sherman found
Austin Dowrick, who headed the ball in.
Wilson finished the game with an 11-6 shot advantage and 7-1 in corner kicks.
Martin finished with four saves, and Penn College keeper
Malcolm Kane stopped three shots.
Penn College returns to action Saturday, 12 p.m., hosting SUNY Poly.
