Penn College Deadlocks with SUNY Poly

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – One hundred and ten minutes was not enough time to determine a winner as Penn College and SUNY Poly played to 2-2 tie in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's soccer match Saturday. Penn College sits at 3-4-2 overall, 3-0-1 NEAC, while Poly is 4-1-2, 2-0-1.

Penn College went ahead 1-0 in the sixth after Caitlin McCarthy's indirect kick found the head of Hailee Hartman. SUNY Poly quickly answered in the seventh minute after Corrina Marconi found the back of the net to even the game 1-1. Penn College fired off three more shots, before Lauren Herr drilled a shot in 22nd minute to give PCT a 2-0 lead.

Penn College missed several chances for more points in the opening six minutes in the second when four PCT shots were stopped by Poly keeper Angela Bartlett. SUNY Poly, meanwhile, made the best of their offensive touches when Corrina Marconi tied the match at 2-2 with unassisted score in the 55th minute.

Neither team had a shot on goal in the first overtime, while both squads had one shot each on goal in the second extra period.

Penn College outshot Poly 16-11 and held a 10-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Hailey Heistand stopped four shots in goal for Penn College, and Bartlett finished with eight saves.

Penn College returns to action Sunday, 1 p.m., hosting SUNY Cobleskill.
