Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Wildcats Tie Giants

WIILIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College battled its way to a 1-1 draw against Keystone College in non-conference women's soccer game Saturday. The Wildcats and the Giants are both 0-1-1 this season.

Penn College fired early and often in the first half but couldn't find the back of the net. Keystone keeper Sarah Heintz stopped shots by Kyra Shea, Jane Herman and Robyn Beddow in a three minute span in the opening half. The Wildcats' goalie Hailey Heistand kept zeros on the board with a pair of stops in the 26th minute, before Penn College fired four balls towards the goal in the final five minutes but couldn't find the net.

The second half mirrored the first with Penn College outshooting the Giants 13-4. The Wildcats broke the deadlock in the 84th minute when Christina Weber launched a shot just outside of the box, and beat Heintz to the top right to put Penn College ahead 1-0. Keystone answered four minutes later when Nina Carbonara tapped in a Jenna Moranski pass to send the game to overtime.

Weber managed two shots for the Wildcats in overtime, the first landing in Heintz's mitts and the other just over the crossbar. Heistand preserved the tie in the 97th minute with a leaping one-handed stop of a Nisa Cortes shot.

Penn College outshot Keystone 2-0 in the second overtime period and finished the contest with a 30-14 advantage in shots and 14-9 in corners.

Heintz finished with 12 stops, while Heistand picked up seven saves.

Penn College returns to action Sunday hosting Gwynedd Mercy at 1 p.m.
