Penn College Earns First Win

CLARKS SUMMITT, Pa. – Penn College finished 1-2 in a quad meet against Lycoming College, Wilkes University and Summitt University Saturday at Summitt. The Wildcats fell to both Lycoming and King's 3-0 but picked of their first win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Summitt.

Penn College is 1-5 this season.

Against Lycoming,
The Warriors won 25-9, 25-10 and 25-14.

Felicia Webber led the Wildcats with four kills, Sophie Coldsmith picked up seven assists and finished with nine digs. Lycoming led in kills 31-8, aces 11-0, blocks 7-3, assists 30-7 and digs 47-33.

Against Wilkes,
Wilkes won 25-19, 25-15 and 25-11.

Kaitlyn Young finished with a game-high 13 digs for the Wildcats, Keri Fargus had four kills, Webber notched two aces and one block and Coldsmith had eight assists. Penn College held a 33-28 advantage in digs, while Wilkes led in kills 38-12, aces 15-6 and assists 34-11.

Against Summitt,
Penn College took a 2-0 after 25-20 and 25-23 win in the first sets. After the Defenders won the third set 25-13, the Wildcats secured their first win with a 25-13 fourth set.

Webber finished with a game-high 10 kills and 17 digs for Penn College, Tara Glenny had a game-best three blocks and Coldsmith recorded a team-high 17 assists. Summitt held a slight edge in all major categories despite the loss.

Penn College returns to action Wednesday, 7 p.m., hosting Elmira.
