CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. – Penn College junior
Alicia Ross recorded her first career triple-double in the Wildcats' 93-69 win over Wilson College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Sunday. Penn College improved to 3-5 overall, 3-3 NEAC, while the Phoenix fell to 2-4, 0-3.
Ross scored 41 points, dished out 12 assists and grabbed 10 rebounds – all career highs – to notch the program's first triple-double. Ross fired 15 of 22 from the field, including 4 of 9 from behind the arc, and sank 7 of 8 free throws attempts.
Jamie Steer picked up her third double-double, and second in-a-row, with 18 points and a game-high 15 rebounds. Steer is 46 points away of tying her sister Kierstin as the program's all-time leading scorer.
Danielle Mowery scored a career-high 19 points for the Wildcats, while
Ebani Lewis pulled down 13 rebounds and
Niesha Williams grabbed 10 boards.
Jordyn Day and Ashley Henderson both netted 16 points for Wilson, and Lindsey Purvis finished with 14.
Penn College started off hot and led 30-8 after the first quarter before taking a 46-25 lead into the break. The Wildcats outscored Wilson 31-19 in third en route to the win.
Penn College returns to action Wednesday, 8 p.m., at Penn State Abington.
