MORRISTOWN, N.J. – College of Saint Elizabeth overcame a first quarter deficit to hand Penn College an 86-54 setback in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday. The Eagles improved to 5-8 overall, 5-3 NEAC, while the Wildcats fell to 3-7, 3-5.
Alicia Ross led Penn College with a team-high 24 points, and
Danielle Mowery finished with 10.
Jamie Steer picked up her fourth double-double this season with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Steer is 33 points shy of tying her sister Kierstin as the program's all-time leading scorer.
Jasmine Poole netted a game-high 25 points for CSE, Deja Ingram added 20 and Ashley Pledger and Sharolin Sanders finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Penn College took its largest lead, 14-8, after a Mowery layup with 6:49 left in the first quarter before leading 21-17 after the first. After Ross' layup early in the second quarter put the Wildcats ahead 23-19, the Eagles used a 9-0 run to go ahead 28-23 with 4:56 left in the second, and led 34-28 at the break.
CSE took its largest lead, 57-39, with 2:50 left in the third and the Wildcats trailed by double-digits the remainder of the game.
Penn College returns to action Thursday, 8 p.m., at Bryn Athyn.
