BRYN ATHYN, Pa. – Bryn Athyn used a 30 point first quarter to propel itself to a 79-63 win over Penn College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Thursday. The Lions improved to 9-5 overall, 7-2 NEAC, while the Wildcats fell to 3-8, 3-6.
Alicia Ross shared in game-high honors with 32 points for Penn College and
Jamie Steer finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds to record her fifth double-double this season. Steer is 20 points away of tying her sister Kierstin as the program's all-time leading scorer.
Kristina Clark also scored 32 points for Bryn Athyn, Je'La Watson netted 15, Robin McClinek added 12 and Sydney Mitchell finished with 11 points.
The Lions led 30-11 after the first and 48-20 at halftime, while the Wildcats outscored Bryn Athyn 22-15 in the third and 21-16 in the fourth.
Bryn Athyn scored 23 points off turnovers and added 18 second-chance points.
Penn College is scheduled to return to action Saturday, 3 p.m., hosting SUNY Cobleskill.
