BRYN ATHYN, Pa. - Penn College overcame a six point halftime deficit to knock off Bryn Athyn 87-77 in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Thursday. The Wildcats improved to 3-11 overall, 3-5 NEAC, while the Lions fell to 1-12, 1-6.
Kevin Laurence-El scored a team-high 22 points for Penn College and
Marquis Delgado added 18.
Thomas Ross recorded his seventh double-double this season with 17 points and 12 rebounds, and
Joseph Mangiero finished with 12.
Adonis Rosario scored a game-high 24 points for Bryn Athyn and Devante Lawa and Troy Steed both finished with 16 points.
Penn College held a 10-3 lead four minutes into the game after
Deaundra McCants' trey. Bryn Athyn responded with a 15-6 spurt to take an 18-16 advantage with 12:09 left in the first half. After
Laquinn Thompson's layup at 6:43 put the Wildcats ahead 31-23, the Lions finished the half with a 22-8 scoring run to take a 45-39 lead at halftime.
Penn College opened the second half with a 10-2 run and regained the lead, 49-47, on a Ross long ball. Following two more deadlocks, the Wildcats took the lead for good after
Bryce Lonsway's three with 10:44 left in the game put Penn College ahead 62-59. The Lions got as close as one, 64-63, with 8:18 left, while the Wildcats led by as many as 12 on Laurence-El's three with 4:26 left in the game.
Penn College is scheduled to return to action Saturday, 1 p.m., hosting SUNY Cobleskill.
