WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – SUNY Poly dealt Penn College a 77-54 loss in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Sunday. Poly improved to 10-4 overall, 7-0 NEAC, while Penn College dropped to 3-10, 3-8.
In the opening minutes of the game,
Jamie Steer sank a free throw to become the program's all-time leading scorer. She passed her sister Kiersten, who had 1,246 points, and finished the game with 18 points and nine rebounds.
Alicia Ross scored a game-high 22 points for Penn College and grabbed six rebounds. Ross is now 96 points shy of joining the Steer sisters as the third player in the 1,000 career points club at Penn College.
Stevie Ray netted 19 points for Poly, Lauren Knowles added 11 and Shelby Kralik finished with 10.
Penn College opened the game with a 7-5 lead after a
Niesha Williams three with 7:10 left in the first quarter. Poly quickly responded a regained the lead for the good before going ahead 29-15 after the first quarter. Poly led 55-24 at the break and outscored Penn College 15-8 in the third. PCT pumped in 22 in the fourth and held Poly to seven points.
Penn College returns to action Wednesday, 8 p.m., at Penn State Berks.
