Penn College Too Much for Berks


WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College picked up an impressive 87-65 win over Penn State Berks in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Tuesday. The Wildcats improved to 2-3 overall, 2-1 NEAC, while the Lions fell to 0-7, 0-3.

Jamie Steer led all scorers with 28 points on 12 of 18 shooting, and pulled down nine rebounds for Penn College. The senior is now 89 points shy of tying her sister Kierstin as the all-time leading scorer in program's history. Jamie Steer currently stands with 1,157 career points.

Alicia Ross finished with 27 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out nine assists for the Wildcats. Ebani Lewis recorded her first collegiate double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Danielle Mowery added 12 points and eight rebounds for Penn College. Niesha Williams pulled down 11 boards for the Wildcats.

Deanna Daddona paced Berks with 18 points.

The Wildcats battled in the first quarter, which saw four lead changes and one tie before leading 27-21 at the end of the opening period. Penn College led 48-33 at halftime and before finishing with a 22-point win.

Penn College turned 17 offensive rebounds into 26 second-chance points and netted 16 points off of turnovers.

The Wildcats return to the court Thursday, 7 p.m., hosting Lancaster Bible.
