WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn State Berks, the reigning North Eastern Athletic Conference champions and unbeaten in conference play to date, edged Penn College 1-0 in a NEAC women's soccer match Sunday. The Wildcats fell to 9-8-1 overall, 8-4 NEAC, while the Lions improved to 13-3-1, 12-0.
Following a scoreless first half, the Lions got on the board in the 60
th minute when Caitlin Golden bounced a shot off the left post and into the back of the net.
The Wildcats had their best chance for a goal in the 82
nd minute when
Hailee Hartman had a one-on-one opportunity with the goalie, but Kaylee Frapul sprinted off her line towards Hartman and made a sliding stop to preserve the shutout.
Berks outshot Penn College 19-7 and held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.
Colleen Bowes stopped seven shots in goal for Penn College, while Frapul had five saves.
Penn College returns to action Tuesday, 4 p.m., at Clarks Summit.
