GREENVILLE, Pa. – Penn College dropped a 68-43 decision to Thiel College in a non-conference women's basketball game Wednesday. The Wildcats fell to 0-1, while the Panthers improved to 1-1.
Maddie Wenk and
Alicia Ross shared team-high scoring honors for Penn College with 13 points each, while
Gwendolyn Lavelle added 11. Wenk also finished with a team-best seven rebounds.
Taylor Duchon scored a game-high 24 points for Thiel and teammate Jess Vormelker added 23 points and 10 rebounds.
Penn College trailed 12-0 early in the contest before cutting the deficit to nine, twice, first on Wenk's three at 5:27 and the final time on a Lavelle jumper at 4:23. It was the closest the Wildcats would get in the contest.
Thiel led 20-10 after the first quarter and 34-14 at the break.
The Wildcats outscored Thiel in the final period, 15-13, led by Ross' seven points.
Penn College returns to action Monday at Westminster College.
