NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Westminster dealt Penn College a 67-40 setback in a non-conference women's basketball game Monday. The Wildcats fell to 0-2, while the Titans improved to 2-1.
Alicia Ross netted a game-high 20 points for Penn College on 6 of 15 shooting from the floor, and grabbed a team-best nine rebounds.
Jane Herman finished the game 11 points for the Wildcats.
Kylie Cook shared in game-high honors with 20 points for Westminster and Emily Fromknecht added 14.
Penn College started out strong in the first quarter with an opening lead on Ross' long ball to begin the game. After WC took a slight lead, the Wildcats evened the contest twice in the opening period. The first when Ross converted a pair of free throws at 6:31 to make it 5-5, and the second on a
Maddie Wenk trey at 3:09 to deadlock the contest 14-14 at 3:09. The Titans later led 21-17 after the opening quarter and 33-24 at halftime.
Westminster outscored Penn College 19-11 in the third and 15-5 in the fourth.
Penn College returns to action Nov. 29 at Elmira College.
