MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Penn College doubled its first half efforts in the final period Saturday, but dropped an 86-75 decision to Morrisville State in North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game. The Wildcats fell to 3-15 overall, 3-9 NEAC, while the Mustangs improved to 14-6, 10-2.
Five players reached double figures in scoring for Penn College, led by
Bryce Lonsway's 15 points – all threes.
Kevin Laurence-El,
Landon Muller and
Laquinn Thompson each added 13, while
Marquis Delgado finished with 11.
Thomas Ross grabbed a game-best 10 rebounds.
Ibrahima Toure paced the Mustangs with 22 points, Joe Hulbert added 17 and Qwuhail Barlow, Jordan Hoose and Trent Ward all scored 14.
Trailing 41-25 after the first half, Penn College pumped in a 50-point second half and pulled within eight, 54-46, with 12:51 left in the game. The Wildcats got as close as seven, 72-65, following a three-ball and layup from Laurence-El with 3:31 left in the contest. The Mustangs answered with their own three and their lead never dipped below nine the remainder of the game.
Penn College returns to action Sunday, 1 p.m., at Cazenovia.
