Wilkes Walks Off Over Wildcats

KINGSTON, Pa. – Penn College dropped a 1-0 decision to Wilkes University in a non-conference baseball game Tuesday. The Wildcats fell to 3-7, while the Colonels improved to 8-7.

Matthew Reese's two-out single to left field in the bottom of the ninth for Wilkes led to Alex Palmer scoring from second to give the Colonels the win. Joshua Slocum led off the inning with a double, before Palmer pinch-ran for him. Penn College's left fielder was credited with an error on Reese's single, which led to the winning run.

Richard Lennon and Noah Esposito combined for four of the Wildcats' five hits, while Cole Hoffman picked up the other hit – a double -- for Penn College.

Trevor Dolin fired six scoreless innings for the Wildcats, allowing no runs on two hits, seven walks and five strikeouts. Devon Sanders relieved Dolin in the seventh, allowing one unearned run, on five hits, five strikeouts and no walks. Sanders was saddled with the loss and fell to 0-1.

Matt Kaster improved to 1-0 for Wilkes in two-thirds innings.

Penn College returns to action Thursday, 1 p.m., hosting Alfred State.
