WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College split a non-conference softball doubleheader with Lycoming College Wednesday. The Wildcats won the first game, 3-2, before the Warriors took the second contest, 8-0. Penn College improved to 6-7.
In game one,
Penn College went on the board in the top of the first inning after
Elizabeth Asher drew a bases loaded walk that plated
Taylor Krow. The Warriors got the run back in the bottom of the frame and added a run in the fourth to take a 2-1 lead.
Krow evened the game in the sixth with a RBI single and
Taylor Brooks knocked in the go-ahead run on a single that scored
Tiana McCormick.
Amanda Kustanbauter got out of the seventh after allowing a leadoff walk, which became a runner at third with one out, after a stolen base and sacrifice bunt. The Wildcats got the final two outs on a foul out to first and a fly out to center.
Maddie Wenk and McCormick led the Wildcats with two hits each, while Kustanbauter improved to 3-3 with a complete-game effort. She allowed two runs on five hits and four walks, and struck out two.
In game two,
Lycoming added three runs in the first, four in the fifth and one in the sixth to end the game.
Kelsey Gantz led Penn College with two hits.
Lauren Stehman fell to 2-2 after allowing four runs on two hits and five walks.
Penn College returns to action Friday, 3 p.m., hosting Morrisville.
