MANSFIELD, Pa. – Penn College dropped a pair of non-conference baseball games to Mansfield Thursday, falling 11-1 and 13-3. The Wildcats fell to 10-13.
In game one,
Mansfield added two runs in the first inning and seven in the fourth to take a 9-0 lead. Penn College picked up its only run when a wild pitch scored
Dylan Scaringi in the fifth. Mansfield tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fifth.
The Wildcats were held to three hits in the game.
Bradley Walter fell to 1-4 after 3.1 innings on the mound. He allowed nine runs (six earned) on five hits, with six walks and no strikeouts.
In game two,
Mansfield took an 8-0 lead after the first two innings before Penn College added a run in the third and fourth.
Rylan Whitmyer's single to left scored
Trevor Route in the third, before
Cole Weachock and Nick Perman added a RBI each in the fourth inning. Mansfield added a run in each of the third and fourth innings, and three in the sixth.
Kyle Fox fell to 0-2 after two innings of work. He allowed eight runs (seven earned) on seven hits, with one strikeout and five walks.
Penn College returns to action Saturday, 1 p.m., hosting Penn State Berks in a rematch of last season's NEAC Championship. Prior to Saturday's game, four members of the team will be honored on Senior Day.
