WILLIAMPORT, Pa. – Penn College dropped a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference baseball games to Penn State Abington Sunday. The Wildcats fell to 1-5 NEAC, 10-17 overall after falling to the Lions 8-4 in game one and 6-4 in game two.
In game one,
The Lions pumped in three runs in the first inning to take an early lead, before Penn College put two on the board in the third on
Richard Lennon's two-run double to center field that scored
Jeremy Rall and
Cole Weachock.
Abington added two in the fourth inning before
Cole Hoffman's RBI single in the fourth made it 5-3.
The Lions added a run each of the sixth, eighth and ninth innings, while Penn College tacked on a run in the eighth on a
Noah Esposito RBI single.
Dylan Scaringi,
Carlos Rodriguez and Lennon all finished with two hits for the Wildcats.
Trevor Dolin fell to 1-2 after four innings on the hill. He allowed five runs (four earned) on just three hits, while walking four and striking out four.
In game two,
Abington combined for six runs in the final three innings, which erased an early 3-0 deficit.
The Wildcats took a 1-0 lead in the second when Rodriguez plated Weachock with a sacrifice fly to right. Penn College made it 3-0 in the fourth when Weachock roped a triple to center and Lennon added a RBI single.
Abington pulled within one with two in the fifth and took the lead for good with three in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Jeremy Rall's RBI single in the seventh scored the Wildcats final run.
Weachock led Penn College with two hits, while
Aaron Palmer suffered his first loss to fall to 4-1. Palmer allowed five runs on 10 hits, striking out two and walking three.
Penn College returns to action Tuesday, 3 p.m., hosting Juniata College.
