WASHINGTON, D.C.—Penn College split a pair of North Eastern Athletic Conference baseball games against Gallaudet Saturday. The Wildcats won the first game 11-6, before dropping the second 3-2. Penn College sits at 3-7 NEAC, 12-20 overall.
In game one,
Penn College took an early 4-0 lead with two runs in each of the first two innings. An error scored the Wildcats first run,
Richard Lennon knocked in a run with a single and
Cole Hoffman and
Jeremy Rall plated runs with fielder's choice hits.
The Bison added a run in the second before Penn College knocked in a run in the third and two in the fifth to lead 7-1.
An error plated a run for PCT in the third before a
Dylan Scaringi sacrifice fly and a Hoffman single in the fifth provided two more runs.
Gallaudet added four runs in the sixth and one in the seventh, while the Wildcats tacked on a pair of runs in each of the seventh and eighth innings.
Hoffman brought in two on a double in the seventh before a
Connor Doherty single and an error scored runs in the eighth.
Hoffman finished with four hits for PCT, Lennon picked up three and Doherty and
Noah Esposito finished with two hits.
Trevor Dolin improved to 2-2 after 5.1 innings on the mound. He allowed three runs (two earned), struck out five and walked three.
In game two,
Gallaudet scored two runs in the first inning and one in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead. Penn College made a late push with two runs in the seventh on a single by Scaringi and an error but couldn't get any closer.
Aaron Palmer fell to 4-2 after a complete-game effort. He allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits, struck out three and walked two.
Penn College returns to action Tuesday, 4:30 p.m., hosting King's College.
