ELMIRA, N.Y. – Penn College split a pair non-conference softball games against Elmira Monday. The Wildcats improved to 15-16 after rebounding from an 8-0 game one loss with a 4-0 victory in the second contest.
In game one,
Elmira scored all of the runs it needed in the first three innings. The Eagles led 5-0 after the first and added two in the second one in the third.
Taylor Krow continued with her hot hitting with a pair of knocks for the Wildcats.
Amanda Kustanbauter dropped to 6-7 after four innings of work. She allowed eight runs (five earned) on eight hits, struck out two and walked four.
In game two,
The Wildcats backed up
Lauren Stehman's three-hitter with four runs in the final three innings.
An error in the fifth scored
Samantha Hill to give PCT a 1-0 lead. Krow knocked in Stehman with a single to left in the sixth, and
Elizabeth Asher's double and
Sophie Coldsmith's single plated two more runners in the seventh.
Krow,
Maddie Wenk and Asher all finished with two hits for Penn College.
Stehman evened her record at 4-4 after a complete-game shutout. She allowed three hits, struck out three and walked one.
Penn College returns to action Thursday, 3 p.m., at SUNY Poly.
