GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – Penn College battled Gwynedd Mercy before falling 3-1 in a non-conference women's tennis match Tuesday. The Wildcats fell to 2-6, while Griffins improved to 3-5.
Penn College won the first set, 25-16, before being edged in the next three, 25-23, 25-21, and 25-20.
The Wildcats led wire-to-wire in the opening set, and by as much as nine, 19-10. The second set saw six deadlocks, the final coming at 20-20, before the Griffins outscored Penn College 5-3 down the stretch.
Penn College returns to action Thursday, 6 p.m., at Elmira College.
