WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College dropped an 82-70 decision to Penn State Abington in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Wednesday. The Wildcats fell to 5-10 overall, 3-7 NEAC, while the Lions improved to 5-8, 4-4.
Marquis Delgado scored a season-high 21 points for Penn College, with seven rebounds and four assists.
Thomas Ross finished with 16 points and seven boards, while
Jesse White grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds.
John Ryan led Abington with a game-high 34 points, while Austin Slawter finished with 12.
Penn College took its only lead of the game after
Erik Perry Jr. drained a three at 18:09 to put the Wildcats ahead 5-4. Abington quickly regained the lead and led the rest of the first half. Penn College overcame a nine-point deficit late in the half and pulled within two, twice, the first after
Erik Eichinger sank a pair from the line and the final one after
Shaekwon Grant-Wheeler made it 27-25 on a layup with 4:38 left before the break. The Lions led 37-31 at halftime.
Ross got the Wildcats as close as five, 39-35, on a long ball one minute into the second half but the Lions answered and led by double-digits the majority of the final period.
Penn College returns to action Saturday, 2 p.m., hosting College of Saint Elizabeth.
