Eagles Edge Wildcats

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – College of Saint Elizabeth broke an 81-81 deadlock with 50 seconds left in the game – via four straight free throw conversions – to hand Penn College an 85-83 loss in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday. The Eagles improved to 6-9 overall, 5-6 NEAC, while the Wildcats fell to 5-11, 3-8.

Erik Eichinger finished with a game-high 25 points on 10 of 21 shooting, while Ben Sosa finished with 18, Marquis Delgado added 14, and Jesse White pumped in 11 for Penn College.
Jason Saldiveri led the Eagles with 21 points, Shaquan Mickens added 12, and Cameron Tucker, Roland Romano and Xander Martinez each scored 10.

Deadlocked at 73-73, with 3:29 left in the game Eichinger put the Wildcats ahead 76-73 after a long ball with 3:06 left in the game. The Eagles countered with six straight points to take a 79-76 advantage before Eichinger struck again from long range to even the game again at 79-79 with 1:38 left in the game. After CSE took an 81-79 lead after a layup with 1:35 left, Thomas Ross tied the game for a final time by converting two from the line with 50 seconds left in the game.

After three ties and several lead changes in the opening seven minutes, CSE took a 17-11 lead with 13:52 left in the first. Penn College rallied to tie the game again, 20-20, on an Eichinger layup with 11:17 on the clock. The Eagles eventually took their largest lead, 40-31, 2:54 left before the Wildcats netted nine straight to even the game at 40-40 after a Sosa layup with 54 seconds left. The game was tied 42-42 at halftime.

Penn College returns to action Wednesday, 7 p.m., hosting Bryn Athyn.
