WILLIAMSPORT, PA – Freshman
Ashley Donat's first career hat trick helped Penn College pick up a 6-1 victory over Clarks Summit in a non-conference women's soccer match Tuesday. The Wildcats improved to 5-6-2 overall, while Clarks Summit fell to 1-12.
Hailee Hartman started the Penn College scoring early, netting the game's first goal in third minute off an assist from
Jane Herman. Hartman scored again in the 23
rd minute, this time off a corner from
Francesca Timpone. The Wildcats added a Donat goal in the 31
st minute to take a 3-0 lead into intermission.
The Wildcats did not rest with a 3-0 lead. In just the second minute of the second half
Jenna Rejman assisted on Donat's second goal of the night. Three minutes later another Donat goal this time assisted by
Emily Bell put Penn College up 5-0.
Jenna Rejman netted her first goal of the year in the 67
th minute to round out the scoring for Penn College.
The Wildcats held a decided edge statistically, outshooting the Defenders 29-4 and holding a 5-1 advantage in corners.
The Penn College offense was not the only unit to shine tonight. The defense was dominate at times, only allowing four shots on the night. The Wildcats back four didn't allow a Clarks Summit shot until the games 64
th minute.
Penn College returns to action Saturday, 1 p.m. at Morrisville.
