EDWARDSVILLE, Pa. – Wilkes University used a four-goal surge in the second half en route to a 6-1 win over Penn College in a non-conference men's soccer match Wednesday. The Wildcats fell to 7-11-1, while the Colonels improved to 8-8-1.
Wilkes took a 1-0 lead in the 32
nd minute before
Daniel Hibbs evened the contest in the 38
th minute when he belted a shot from 25-yards away. The Colonels answered in the 41
st minute to take a 2-1 lead at the break.
Wilkes finished off the game with four unanswered goals.
Wilkes outshot Penn College 28-9 and held a 7-1 edge in corner kicks.
Brendan Skwirut (1) and
Hunter Gosnell (5) combined for six saves in goal for Penn College.
The Wildcats play a must-win game in the regular season finale hosting SUNY Cobleskill Saturday at 1 p.m.
