WILLIAMSPORT, Pa – Penn College Men's Soccer dropped a 2-1 decision to Lancaster Bible in a North Eastern Athletic Conference crossover match Sunday. The Wildcats fell to 5-8 overall, 3-2 NEAC, while the Chargers improved to 5-5-2, 2-1-1.
Penn College played a sluggish first half in the second of back to back games this weekend. Lancaster Bible was able to capitalize on the slow Wildcat start when Dan Bewersdorff scored off a rebound in the 19
th minute. The Chargers controlled the play in the first half out shooting Penn College 9-3 in the half.
The Wildcats came our energized in the second half. Penn College created many more scoring chances in the second 45 minutes. The Wildcats were able to finish off one of those chances when
Mike Gonzalez scored a header off of a corner from
Gerry Lua in the 75
th minute.
The game would remain tied at 1-1 until the second overtime when Bewersdorff once again found the back of the net to give Lancaster Bible the 2-1 victory.
Lancaster Bible held the advantage in both shots and corner kicks. The Chargers outshot Penn College 21-10 and held an 11-3 advantage in corners.
Malcolm Kane made seven saves in goal for the Wildcats.
Penn College returns to the field Wednesday, 7 p.m. at Juniata.
