WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Morrisville used a strong third quarter to propel itself to a 59-47 win over Penn College in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Sunday. The Mustangs improved to 15-7 overall, 10-5 NEAC, while the Wildcats fell to 3-19, 3-14.
Jane Herman led Penn College with a game-high 19 points and pulled down a team-best seven rebounds.
Alicia Ross, who was honored in a pre-game senior day ceremony, finished with 15.
Tori Rockefeller netted 18 for Morrisville and Charlotte Walker finished with 14.
The Mustangs led the entire first quarter, while Penn College got as close as two points three times, and within a point, 9-8, on a Herman three with 5:27 left. Penn College overcame a 20-15 deficit after the opening period and made it a two-point game, 25-23, after a pair of Ross free throws with 4:13 left before halftime. Morrisville led 34-29 at halftime.
Morrisville used a 13-4 third quarter to take its largest lead, 47-33, heading into the fourth. The Mustangs led by as many as 19 and as little 12 the rest of the contest.
Penn College returns to action Friday, 6 p.m., at Keuka College.
