MORRISTOWN, Pa. – Penn College rallied from a halftime deficit to win its third game with an 88-77 victory over College of Saint Elizabeth in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats improved to 9-12 overall, 7-9 NEAC, while the Eagles fell to 7-13, 6-10.
Erik Eichinger scored a game-high 28 points for Penn College,
Thomas Ross added 22 points and a game-high 16 rebounds, and
Ben Sosa finished with 20.
Ross became the seventh player in program history to reach 1,000 career points.
Jason Saldiveri led CSE with 25 points and Marion Hart finished with 20.
The Eagles led the entire first half – by as many as 14 – before taking a 46-37 advantage into the break.
Penn College erased its deficit with nine straight points to open the second half at tied the game at 46-46 on a Ross trey with 17:56 left in the game. Tied at 58-58, the third deadlock of half, the Wildcats gained separation with a 13-4 run to lead 70-61 on a pair of Ross free throws with 7:12 on the clock. Penn College held at least a two-possession lead the rest of the contest and went 11 for 11 in the final 90 seconds to ice the game.
Penn College returns to action Saturday, 3 p.m., hosting Cazenovia.
