FLEMINGTON, N.J. – Muhlenberg College scored a run in the bottom of the ninth to walk-off with a 6-5 win over Penn College in a non-conference baseball game at Diamond Nation Monday. The Wildcats fell to 5-4, while the Mules improved to 5-7.
Matt Riebesell singled up the middle in the bottom of the ninth inning to break a 5-5 deadlock and secure the win for Muhlenberg.
The Wildcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the third inning.
Noah Esposito plated
Ben Flicker with a single in the second, before
Nathaniel Lowe scored on an error in the third and Brittain Kittle knocked in
Evan Vigna with a single.
The Mules tacked on two runs in each of the fifth and sixth innings, and added one in the seventh to lead 5-3.
Cody Cline tied the game at 5-5 in the eighth with a two run single that plated both Kittle and Vigna.
Flicker and Kittle both recorded two hits to lead Penn College at the plate.
Max Bair fell to 0-1 after firing 2.2 innings, with five hits, four strikeouts, and two runs (one earned). He relieved starter Bradly Walter (5.1 inning, 6 hits, four Ks, four BBs, four ER).
Penn College is scheduled to return to action Friday at Pitt-Bradford.
