MANSFIELD, Pa. – Penn College dropped an 8-4 decision to Mansfield University in a non-conference baseball game Wednesday. The Wildcats fell to 8-5, while the Mountaineers improved to 11-11.
Penn College evened the game at 2-2 in the top of the second inning after
Evan Vigna smacked a two-run home run to right field, which plated
Brittan Kittle. The Wildcats made it a one-run contest in the third when an error on a
Ben Flicker single plated
Cody Cline.
The Mounts made it 5-3 in the fifth before Vigna belted a RBI double to right to score Kittle again, to get PCT within one, 5-4.
Mansfield added an insurance run in the seventh and two in the eighth.
Kittle and Vigna led Penn College's offense with two hits each.
Aaron Palmer fell to 1-1 after two innings on the mound. He surrendered four earned runs on five hits, with one strikeout and one walk.
Penn College returns to action Saturday, 2 p.m., at Wells.
