WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College swept North Eastern Athletic Conference softball twinbill against Wells College Tuesday. The Wildcats improved to 6-0 NEAC, 10-5 overall, following a 3-1 win in game one, and a 14-3 route in the nightcap.
In game one,
The Wildcats overcame a 1-0 deficit in the second inning and evened the game on Elizabeth Asher's triple to center field that scored Taylor Brooks. Asher brought home the go-ahead run in the fifth on a triple that plated Taylor Krow, and Tiana McCormick added some cushion in the sixth with a RBI single.
Sophie Coldsmith finished with three hits for Penn College, and Asher picked up a pair of hits.
Brooks fired a complete-game one-hitter to improve to 3-1. She struck out nine and walked eight.
In game two,
Penn College peppered Wells with eight runs in the first inning. A wild pitch and an error plated the first two runs before Lacey Clark drew a bases loaded walk to make it 3-0. McCormick plated a run on a single, Krow brought in a pair with a single to left and Kassie Winters smacked a double to center to score two more.
Wells got a run back in the top of the third before PCT answered with five in the bottom of the frame. Krow's single to center plated a run, Brooks lined a triple to right to score two more, Coldmsith's RBI single knocked in another run, and an error accounted for the fifth run of the inning.
Krow added one more in the fourth when her single to center made it 14-3.
Krow went 4 for 4 from the leadoff spot, while Winters and McCormick finished with two hits each.
Kassie Winters remained perfect after five innings of work. She allowed three runs, on five hits, with three strikeouts and one walk.
Penn College returns to action Friday, 3 p.m., hosting SUNY Cobleskill.
