Penn College Sweeps Cazenovia

Williamsport, PA – Penn College returned to play Saturday for a pair of North East Athletic Conference games against Cazenovia.  The Wildcats swept the series by taking the first game 5-3 and the second game 21-8.  The wins help Penn College improve to 15-7 overall and 6-2 in the conference. 
 
In Game One,

Penn College picked up a 5-3 victory over Cazenovia in game one behind a strong outing from Cody Nelson.  Nelson gave up only two runs on three hits in over six strong innings.  Devon Sanders came in and pitched a 1, 2, 3 seventh for the save. 

The Wildcats started the game out strong jumping out to 1-0 lead in the first.  Nathaniel Lowe singled to lead off the game and was immediately drove in when Cody Cline doubled to left. 

Lowe once again factored into the scoring in the third.  A Lowe triple to the gap in right drove in Dylan Scaringi who led off the inning with a single.  Two batters latter Ben Flicker delivered with an RBI single to drive Lowe home.
 
The combination of Lowe and Flicker struck again in the fifth.  Lowe led off the inning with a single.  Lowe then stole second and advanced to third on an error before scoring on a Flicker double. 

After being held hitless by Nelson Cazenovia was finally able to get on the scoreboard in the sixth when they scored two runs off three straight doubles.  Penn College answered in the bottom half with an RBI single from Scaringi.

Nathaniel Lowe and the top of the lineup paced the Wildcats offensively in game one.  Lowe led the way with three hits and two RBIs.  Ben Flicker also added two hits and two RBIs while Cody Cline also drove in one. 
  
In Game Two,

Penn College once again jumped out a 1-0 lead after the first inning.  Brittan Kittle delivered with a two out RBI double to drive in Ben Flicker.   

Penn College erupted for five runs in the second inning.  Eleven Wildcats batted in the inning.  The key hit was a three run double by Nathaniel Lowe.  Flicker accounted for the fourth run of the inning by driving in Lowe with a double of his own.  Kittle again came through with a two out RBI to score Flicker and account for the final Wildcat run of the frame. 

Noah Esposito accounted for all of the Wildcat offense in the third.  Esposito was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, and then stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch and finally scored on a passed ball. 

Cazenovia used four hits in the fourth inning to score five runs to shrink the Penn College lead to 7-5.  RBIs from James Simasek and Richard Lennon helped Penn College respond with two runs of their own. Cazenovia would respond with three runs over the next two innings to pull within a run of the Wildcats after the top of the sixth.

From that moment on it was all Penn College.  Offensively the Wildcats poured it on over the last three innings scoring 12 unanswered runs.  Richard Lennon paced the Penn College offensive onslaught with four RBIs over the last three innings.  Aaron Palmer closed the game out with four strong only surrendering one run on two hits over the final four innings. 

A number of Wildcats put up impressive offensive numbers on the day.  The team totaled 18 and drew nine walks.  James Simasek led Penn College with four hits and added two RBIs.   Richard Lennon had five RBIs on the day to go along with his two hits.

Penn College returns to the field Tuesday, at home vs Gallaudet at 2 pm.
