Wilkes-Barre, PA - Penn College faced off against Kings College in a non-conference matchup Thursday. Penn College picked up a 5-3 win that improved their record to 18-7 on the year.
In a tightly contested game that was close throughout Penn College used timely hitting and solid pitching to pick up the victory. All of the Wildcats five runs were scored with two outs.
Aaron Palmer scattered six hits and walked none over five and two thirds innings out of the bullpen to pick up his second victory of the season.
Penn College opened the scoring in the top of the second when
Evan Vigna scored on a fielding error on the Kings shortstop. Kings would answer back the next inning with a solo homerun by Chris Rebar.
The Wildcats would take a one run lead in the fifth when
Ben Flicker doubled to left center to score
Dylan Scaringi. Another hit off the bat of Rebar would help Kings tie the game at 2-2 in the sixth.
Penn College was finally able to create some breathing room in the seventh. The Wildcats scored three runs in the frame to extend their lead to 5-2. After loading the bases
Jed Blankenhorn scored on a wild pitch. In the same at bat
Brittan Kittle tripled to score Flicker and
Cody Cline.
Kings would score a run in the ninth to round out the scoring.
Brittan Kittle paced the Wildcats with two RBIs and
Richard Lennon led the team with two hits.
Penn College returns to action Tuesday, at Lancaster Bible at 1 PM.
