WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College dropped a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader against Cazenovia Saturday to fall to 10-2 NEAC, 14-7 overall. PCT dropped a 4-3 decision in the first game, and 5-1 in the second contest, which snapped a 10-game winning streak for Penn College.
In game one,
Penn College benefited from a leadoff triple from
Taylor Krow in the first inning when
Alyssa Gentile brought Krow home with a triple to center to make it 1-0. PCT made it 2-0 in the second when
Amanda Kustanbauter's sacrifice to center scored
Sophie Coldsmith.
Cazenovia evened the game on a disputed play in the third inning. A ball that hit the batter's foot was ruled fair, and led to a pair of runs crossing home after an error on the relay.
Kylie Shreiner put PCT ahead in the fifth with a single to right before Cazenovia answered with two in the sixth and held on for the win.
Krow led PCT at the plate with a pair of hits.
Kassie Winters was saddled with her first loss season after relieving Kustanbauter in the third inning. She scattered three hits, with a strikeout and a walk and allowed one earned run.
In game two,
Cazenovia's five run third produced all of the runs it would it.
Penn College got a run back in the seventh when Krow smacked a RBI single to center that scored
Becky Schweikert.
Krow again paced the PCT offense with two hits.
Winter took the loss after 2.1 innings in the circle. She allowed seven hits, struck out one, walked one and allowed five earned runs.
Taylor Brooks closed out the game with two hits, five strikeouts and six walks.
Penn College returns to action Sunday, noon, at Morrisville.
