Penn College Drops a Pair to Keuka

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Penn College fell to Keuka College in a pair North Eastern Athletic Conference softball games Wednesday. The Wildcats lost 5-2 in the first game before falling 7-3 in the second contest, and dropped to 12-6 NEAC, 16-11 overall.

In game one,
After Keuka took an early 1-0 lead, Penn College evened the game in the third inning when Tiana McCormick's single to left scored Amanda Kustanbauter. The Wolves added two in the fourth to lead 3-1 before an error in the sixth plated Taylor Brooks to make it 3-2.

Keuka added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth.

Brooks led the Wildcats at the plate with a pair of hits, while Kustanbauter took the loss in the circle after five innings. She allowed three earned runs on seven hits, with no strikeouts and four walks.

In game two,
Penn College plated a run in the first inning when Elizabeth Asher's hit into a fielder's choice that scored Brooks. Keuka evened the game in the bottom of the frame before the Wildcats tacked on a pair in the fourth to lead 3-1.

Singles from Sadie Trudgen and Danielle Bonis – which brought in Kylie Shreiner and Asher – gave Penn College its final lead of the contest. Keuka answered with four in the fourth and tacked on a pair in the sixth.

Brooks fell to 5-2 after six innings of work. She allowed six earned runs on eight hits, with six strikeouts and four walks.

Penn College returns to the field Saturday, 1 p.m., at SUNY Poly.
