COBLESKILL, N.Y. – Penn College swept SUNY Cobleskill in a North Eastern Athletic Conference doubleheader Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats won the first game 6-1 and the second contest 5-1 to improve to a program-best 16-6 NEAC, 20-11 overall.
Penn College has already secured a spot in next week's NEAC Playoffs. The Wildcats are currently the No. 2 seed from the North with two games still to play against Wells on Tuesday.
In game one,
The Wildcats added two runs in each of the third, fourth, and fifth innings.
Kylie Shriener's two-run double in the third made it 2-0 before RBIs from
Becky Schweikert and
Taylor Brooks (triple) in the fourth gave PCT a 4-0 lead.
Elizabeth Asher singled in the fifth run in the fifth and
Alyssa Gentile made it 6-0 with a RBI in the fifth.
Cobleskill added its lone run in the sixth inning.
Brooks, Shreiner, and Asher all finished with three hits for Penn College, while
Tiana McCormick had a pair.
Brooks improved to 7-2 after a complete-game performance. She allowed one run on three hits, with 15 strikeouts and three walks.
In game two,
Shreiner put Wildcats ahead 1-0 with a single in the first and an error in the third made it 2-0. Cobleskill made it a one run game with a score in the fifth before Penn College added three in the seventh. An error scored two runs and Lacey Clark smacked a RBI single.
Brooks and
Kassie Winters both had three hits for Penn College and Shreiner and Gentile finished with two hits each.
Amanda Kustanbauter improved to 6-5 after a complete-game three hitter. She allowed one run, struckout three and walked one.
