Beaver Falls, PA - Penn College dropped its season opener 3-0 to Geneva College. Geneva provided a tough opening test for the Wildcats. The Golden Tornadoes returned five all conference performers from a team that made an NCAA tournament appearance last year.
The Wildcats keep the game close in the first half thanks to strong goal keeping by
Hunter Gosnell. Gosnell turned away five of the six Genvea shots on goal in the first half. Abel Carleton scored the only goal of the first half in the 9th minute.
The second half saw both team pick up the pace offensively. Penn College had a couple of strong scoring chances and Geneva scored netted two more goals to push the final score to 3-0.
Gosnell turned away eleven shots on goal for Penn College, while Luke Nolan stopped both Penn College shots on goal.
Geneva outshot PCT 20-6 and held a 8-5 advantage on corner kicks.
Penn College returns to action tomorrow, 4 p.m., against Grove City College.
