WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College opened the season going 1-1 in a pair of non-conference women's volleyball matches at the Lycoming College Classic Saturday. It's the first win for any Penn College team since the college became full members of NCAA Division III.

The Wildcats fell to Lycoming 3-0 in the first meet before knocking off Clarks Summit 3-1 in the second match.

Against Lycoming,
Penn College started slow offensively against Lycoming with a few hitting errors but made up for it with hustle on defense en route to a 25-13, 25-17, and 25-15 setback.

Sophie Coldsmith led Penn College in both kills (4) and assists (11), Jordyn Smeltzer paced PCT in blocks (1) and digs (9), while Cassandra Gower picked up two aces.

Gower's kill in the first set capped a hard-fought 29-27 win for Penn College and led to a 3-1 win (29-27, 19-25, 25-23, 25-14).

Smeltzer earned team-high honors in kills (13), aces (4), and digs (19), and Coldsmith led the Wildcats in blocks (1) and assists (27).
