WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –
Austin Dowrick found the back of the net in the 97
th minute to lift Penn College to a 1-0 overtime win over SUNY Poly in a North Eastern Athletic Conference men's soccer match Saturday. Penn College improved to 3-5 overall, 1-0 NEAC, while Poly fell to 2-5, 0-1.
With two minutes left in overtime
Mike Gonzalez sent a cross from the right side that found the foot of Dowrick, and into the bottom right of the net for the game-winner. It was Dowrick's second score of the season and the first assist of the season for Gonzalez.
Both teams had one shot in the extra period with Benjamin Alonge's attempt in the 96
th just missing wide and Dowrick's game-winner two minutes later.
Poly fired off six shots in the second period with four missing their mark and two being saved, while PCT got off four attempts in the second period, with three being saved. PCT had six shots in the first period, with all missing the mark, while Poly shot five times in the opening stanza with one being saved.
Poly outshot PCT 12-11 and held an 8-6 advantage in corner kicks.
Malcolm Kane improved to 2-2 with three stops for Penn College and Alexander Gigliotti also stopped three shots for Poly.
Penn College returns to action Wednesday, 7 p.m., hosting Wells College.
