Cazenovia, NY - After two straight conference win Penn College dropped its first North Eastern Athletic Conference match of the year Saturday, 2-0 to Cazenovia College. The Wildcats fell to 4-6 overall, 2-1 NEAC, while Cazenovia improved to 4-4, 1-1.
Penn College fought hard and keep the game close despite being down five starters. Four Wildcat starters are out with injuries and one is serving a two game suspension for a red card Penn Colleges last game.
Cazenovia opened the games scoring in the 12
th minute when Nathan Desalvatore scored an unassisted goal. Minutes later the Wildcats seemed to have tied the game at one but the
Matthew Hibbs was called off. The officials deemed Cazenovia goalie Tom Nicholls had the ball in his grasp before the Hibbs strike. Cazenovia added an insurance goal in the 66
th minute on a goal by David Andreasson.
Penn College held the advantage on both shots and corners. The Wildcats out shot Cazenovia 11-7 and had a 5-1 advantage on corners.
Malcolm Kane had four saves for Penn College and Nicholls had seven save in the shutout for Cazenovia.
Penn College returns to action Tuesday, 7 p.m., at Kings.
