New Father Receives a Tie; Wildcats Draw with Keystone

LA PLUME, Pa. – Penn College battled to a 2-2 draw against Keystone College in non-conference women's soccer match Thursday. The Wildcats improved to 0-1-1, while the Giants stand at 0-2-1.

Penn College played without their head John McNichol, who was in the delivery room expecting his first child. Assistant coach Kristen Gedon and men's soccer head coach Tyler Mensch handled the coaching responsibilities for McNichol.

The Wildcats struck early in the contest when Jane Herman sent a through ball to Tiffany Brown, who buried the shot from the left side to give Penn College a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute. Keystone answered in the 20th minute with a goal, which led to a 1-1 halftime score.

Penn College took the lead again in the 66th minute when Francesca Timpone's cross from the right side found the foot of Cristina Weber, who one-touched the ball to the back of the net.
Keystone evened the game in the 74th minute when the ball hit the post and the rebound found the back of the net to force extra periods.

Both teams had looks in the first overtime when Hailee Hartman's attempt in the 94th minute was stopped, and a Keystone shot in the 95th minute went wide.

The Wildcats put three shots towards the goal in the second overtime on a wide shot from Hartman, a blocked shot by Weber, and a stopped shot from Ashley Donat.
Penn College outshot the Giants, 20-16, and held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks.

Taylor Gonzalez (5 saves) and Millie Landry (2 saves) combined for seven stops in goal for PCT, while Rebekah Shephard finished with six for Keystone.

Penn College returns to action Wednesday, 7 p.m., in the Battle for Lumber rivalry game hosting Lycoming College.
