Wildcats’ Rally Falls Short against Delaware Valley

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College rallied from a 26-0 deficit in a 29-20 setback to Delaware Valley in the season opening wrestling match for both teams. The Aggies improved to 1-0, while the Wildcats fell to 0-1.

The Aggies picked up bonus points in four the first five matches to take a 26-0 lead after 157 pounds.

Daniel Bergeron put Penn College on the board at 165 pounds with second period pin to make it 26-6. Dylan Gettys followed at 174 with a clinical technical fall at the buzzer to cut into Delaware Valley's lead, 26-11.

After the Aggies picked up a decision at 184, Jared Mooney and Dylan Otis both earned wins at 197 and heavyweight for Penn College. Mooney earned a first period fall in 2:30 to make it 29-17 before Otis squeaked out a 2-1 decision in the final match.

Penn College returns to action Saturday at Monarch Invitational hosted by King's College.
