ABINGTON, Pa. – Penn College dropped an 82-71 decision to Penn State Abington in a North Eastern Athletic Conference women's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats fell to 0-2 NEAC, 0-6 overall, while the Nittany Lions improved to 2-0, 5-1.
Kaylah Brown scored a career-high 20 points for Penn College. Brown went 7 of 15 from the field and 4 of 6 from the line.
Cassi Kuhns finished with 17 points and five rebounds, and
Madison Klock netted 11 points for the Wildcats.
Four Abington started reached double-digits, with Wynter Bess scoring a game-high 25 points.
Following two deadlocks in the first five minutes of the game, Penn College used a 9-6 scoring run to lead 18-14 after the first quarter. Brown paced the run with four points for the Wildcats. Penn College took its largest lead of the second, 25-20, on Kuhns' layup with 7:13 on the clock. Abington ended the first half with a 20-11 run to take a 40-36 lead into halftime.
The Lions held a double-digit lead for the majority of the second half.
Penn College returns to action Wednesday, 6 p.m., hosting Penn State Berks.
