BRYN MAWR, Pa. – Penn College erased a three-point deficit, with an 8-3 run in the final two minutes of the game, to topped Bryn Mawr 64-62 in a non-conference women's basketball game Saturday. The Wildcats improved to 1-8, while the Owls fell to 1-9.
Madison Klock scored a game-high 21 points for Penn College.
Kaylah Brown finished 16 points and
Maci Ilgen netted 10.
Cassi Kuhns notched her first double-double this season with 11 points and a game-high 12 rebounds.
Halena Martin led Bryn Mawr with 18 points, Cleo Elizabeth-Roberts added 14, and Laya Paladugu finished with 10.
Brown scored four points in an 8-3 run for Penn College to close out the first quarter trailing by just two, 16-14. With the game deadlocked at 20-20 early in the second quarter, the Wildcats pumped in nine consecutive points to take a 29-20 lead with 4:52 left in the first half – Brown paced the run with four points. Penn College took its largest lead, 33-22, on a Kuhns layup with 2:51 on the clock before leading 33-30 at halftime.
The third quarter featured five lead changes and three ties before the Owls led 45-44 at the end of the period. With the game even, 46-46, with 6:30 left in the game, Bryn Mawr built 57-52 advantage with 3:36 on the clock. Scores from Kuhns, Klock, and Brown pulled Penn College within one, 59-58, before Klock's steal and fast break layup gave the Wildcats the lead for good, 60-59, with 2:12 remaining. Penn College went 4 of 8 from the line in the final two minutes to ice the game.
Penn College returns to action Sunday, 1 p.m., at Keystone College.
