Wildcats Split with Keuka

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Penn College split a North Eastern Athletic Conference baseball doubleheader with Keuka College Saturday. The Wildcats lost on a late-inning rally by the Wolves, 7-5, in the first game, before earning a come-from-behind, 10-5, win in the nightcap.

Penn College improved to 11-8 overall, 5-1 NEAC.

In game one,
Keuka jumped out to a 2-0 in the top of the first inning, before the Wildcats tacked on five runs in the bottom of the frame.

Richard Lennon, Colton Riley, Deric Ellerman, Noah Esposito, and Nathaniel Lowe all picked up RBI singles to give Penn College a 5-2 lead.

After four scoreless innings, Keuka took the lead for good with four runs in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Lennon, Ellerman, and Esposito all picked up two hits for the Wildcats.

Nathaniel Holt started the game and threw five innings. He allowed three runs on eight hits, with three strikeouts and one walk. Brandon Barnyak threw two-thirds of inning before giving way to Devon Sanders, who took the loss after 1.1 innings, one run, on four hits.

In game two,
The Wolves took an early 5-0 lead after three runs in the third and two in the fourth.

Cole Hofmann's sacrifice fly in the fourth plated Ben Flicker to get a run back for Penn College.

The Wildcats erupted for eight runs in the sixth inning. Esposito brought in a run with a sacrifice fly, Alex Zelger picked up a RBI with a single, Flicker stroked two-run single to right, Brittan Kittle brought home a run on a single, Colton Riley knocked in two runs with a triple to right, and Hoffman brought in a run with a single to center.

Kittle's sacrifice fly to center in the eighth scored Penn College's final run.

Flicker went 4-for-5 to lead Penn College at the plate. Zelger, Riley, and Ellerman all finished with two hits.

Max Bair improved to 3-1 following a complete-game on the bump. He allowed five runs (two earned) on 10 hits, with five strikeouts, and one walk.
